The wedding in Greece was a huge success. Kudos and many, many thanks to Paris, Penny and the entire Philippitzis family in Volos!!

Pre-wedding trip to Umbria

The European Wedding Tour started with a flight from Paris to Rome and a short drive to Umbria. In Umbria we found the Robersons and their good friends the McCrea's and the Mori's at the Roberson's villa where we crashed their vacation and gave them a prominent role in our wedding trip. We spent a total of three days touring the Umbria country-side, eating great meal after great meal, enjoying the sites and the company and preparing ourselves for the upcoming trip to Greece.

Wedding in Greece

We arrived in Greece to meet with Dad and Helen on Tuesday, September 8. Arriving in Athens and meeting Dad and Helen there, we all drove together to Volos. The entire Philippitzis family was fantastic as were the visitors from Canada, and the week went smoothly and quickly.

Friday was the Big Day, with the wedding taking place at 20:00 in the early evening, followed by dinner and dancing. On Saturday we awoke in time to head for a beach near Volos with some of the INSEADers. The day ended with dinner at the land, and on Sunday we drove to Athens with Dad and Helen to catch our flight to Rome.

Honeymoon trip to the Amalfi Coast and Rome

Our drive from Rome included a highly contentious stop in Casserta Vecchia, which took us a few hours off our intended route. Next stop was Herculaneum, the town (along with Pompeii) buried by Vesuvio's AD79 eruption.

Leaving Herculaneum we headed south winding up and over the mountains to the town of Ravello on the Amalfi Coast. The following three days were spent touring the cliffside towns that dot the coast.

Wednesday we climbed Mt Vesuvio and then returned to Rome for shopping, dining and touring around the ancient city (mainly shopping it turned out!!)
