Well, we didn't get hit as hard as Chicago, but about a foot of snow fell on Toronto overnight January 2nd/3rd. After about an inch had fallen on the afternoon of the 2nd, Ted, Angus and Cameron went out tobogganing. On the morning of the 3rd, it took Ted over half an hour to shovel the short walk from the front porch to the street, our share of the sidewalk, and the back porch. Then, Ted and Angus made a snowman!

Okay, now we're really getting a winter storm. School was closed today and will be tomorrow. TTC is running but only intermittently and has been closed between Bloor and Eglinton on the Yonge line, between Kipling and Islington in the west and from Woodbine to Kennedy as well as the Scarborough RT in the East and from St. Clair to Downsview to the northwest. Mayor Mel has called in the army and 400 men with armoured vehicles (Bisons) and APC's have come to help with emergency service (acting as ambulances for example). Everything is closed. But, Sara and I worked today until 2 and will be in tomorrow morning first thing. Here are some pictures of our neighbourhood.

This is our street, Havelock,
as seen from Bloor looking south...

A short distance south of Bloor,
I pass this buried car...

I snapped this as I approached our house.
It is just before the blue and pink one...

As I arrive, Roman is out shovelling...

I went back across the street after chatting with Roman for a different view. My hands are freezing by now even through 2 layers of gloves because I have been handling a metal camera and the windchill is about -35C...
